I was very pleased to find The “Blog” of “Unnecessary” Quotation Marks today, via John Gruber. It’s extremely “funny”.

Misused quotation marks have become one of my pet peeves in recent years. I’m surprised at just how often they’re used in place of some other type of emphasis, be it bold or italics. I caught one of my favorite examples of bad quotes at a local BP gas station a few months ago, and snapped a picture with my phone to capture it in all its glory:

Okay, even though I’m sure there are hotdogs on that warming roller, there is the possibility that they really are “hotdogs”.

I once ate what I thought was a hotdog, but am now suspect that it may have been some kind of “hotdog”
