10 Years Out of High School

It’s hard to believe, but it’s already been 10 years since I graduated from the Oklee high school back in 1997. My class’s 10-year reunion took place this weekend, but the impending arrival of our second child means that Casey is under doctor’s orders to stay very close to home. So instead, I made a quick drive back for a golf scramble with a few of my classmates at the Oak Lake Golf Course in Erskine, MN.

I had a good time. This was my first time out on a course this summer (and my first time on that particular course in at least six years), so I wasn’t at the top of my game, but that wasn’t the point. I had a chance to see some of the 35 people I graduated with — some of whom I hadn’t seen since graduation. It was fun catching up for a few hours, and interesting to see where people ended up. And while I never thought I’d still be in Grand Forks 10 years later (ever since my first semester at UND in the fall of 1997), I’m very happy with how things turned out, and can’t imagine them any other way.
