A little bit of insanity

Note: _why removed all of his sites and code from the web in August 2009, so the links below won’t work. A good portion of his stuff has been archived at the whymirror project on Github.

One of the most interesting, and by far the most entertaining, people in the Ruby community is a mysterious guy who goes by the name “why the lucky stiff“. A visit to his personal site is what I imagine a drug trip is like. It’s quite random, with articles ranging from the brilliant “Why’s (Poignant) Guide to Ruby“, to “So You Want To Shoot A Giraffe In The Forehead“, to the series of “Five-Minute Plays for Twins Who Don’t Have Their Other Twin With Them and An Unlimited Supply of Animals“. He’s clearly insane, which is why I can’t get enough of his stuff!

Why’s main programming site is called RedHanded – Sneaking Ruby through the system. Yesterday, He posted an entry titled “Camping is a Microframework” which began as a somewhat cryptic message that he continues to add to – with illustrations. I urge you to take a look at it – don’t worry if you don’t understand programming, because it really doesn’t matter. It’s so weird, so crazy, that it manages to make the complete trip to brilliance.
